Mass. ballot question would dump alcohol sales tax

It's revenue the state can ill afford to lose, according to Michael Widmer, president of the nonpartisan Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation. His group says the state already faces a potential $2.5 billion budget gap for the next fiscal year, even if Question 1 and Question 3 -- which would reduce the overall sales tax to 3 percent -- are both defeated.
