Selectman Stephen Themelis of Pepperell asked about the cost-of-living in the face of devalued incomes for the so-called fractured middle class that Widmer identified. "I suspect we're going to see hundreds if not thousands of books on this topic over the next decade," said Michael Widmer, president of the Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation. While the low inflation rate isn't likely to soon change, Widmer says the personal income issues is "the critical factor."
